We are seeking an experienced and skilled Renal Nursing Specialist to join our team at Great Ormond Street Hospital. The successful candidate will have a strong background in paediatric renal nursing and haemodialysis, with experience in teaching and training others. You will work closely with our Practice Educators and other members of the team to design and deliver high-quality education programs that meet the needs of our staff.

Main Duties and Responsibilities- Develop and deliver education and training programs for nursing staff, with a focus on renal nursing and haemodialysis.
- Work closely with Practice Educators and other members of the team to design and deliver high-quality education programs.
- Provide expert clinical guidance and support to nursing staff, particularly in areas related to renal nursing and haemodialysis.
- Contribute to the development of policies and procedures related to renal nursing and haemodialysis.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of quality improvement projects.
- NMC Registered Nurse - relevant to area of practice Nephrology and Haemodialysis.
- Relevant nursing qualification.
- Evidence of on-going continuing professional development within Nephrology/Haemodialysis speciality linked to demonstrable clinical competencies and level 6 academic study within the speciality.
- Assessor or practice supervisor qualification/experience.
- Leadership or Management Training.
- Proficient skills in Paediatric Haemodialysis.
- Ability to plan and prioritise care for patients.
- Effective teaching, training and preceptorship skills.
- Committed to family centred care.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent numeracy skills.
- Good time management and teaching skills.
- Ability to work well both in a team and on own initiative.
- Ability to delegate tasks as appropriate.
- Demonstrates Compassion in practice.
- Administration of IV drugs.
- Central venous access management.
- Knowledge and understanding of diverse backgrounds and perspectives.
- Experience of having worked with acute/chronically sick children or specialised transferable skills.
- Understanding of professional and current issues in children's nursing.
- Understanding of Diversity and Inclusion challenges in the workplace.
- Understanding of the importance of research and evidence-based practice.
- Demonstrable contribution to advancing Equality, Diversity and Inclusion in the Workplace.
- Basic knowledge of computer skills.
- Understanding of safeguarding issues according to Trust policies and procedures.
- Understanding of principles of clinical governance (risk management, audit, quality).
