Job Summary

This is a fantastic opportunity to join the team at Pennine Care NHS FT as a Consultant Clinical Psychologist in the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS).

As a key member of the multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for leading the delivery of evidence-based care pathways and psychological interventions for a range of childhood emotional health and wellbeing issues. You will also support whole system transformation and lead programmes of change to ensure that the principles of the iThrive recommendations are delivered within the locality.

Key responsibilities include:

Main Duties of the Job

• To lead the delivery of evidence-based care pathways and psychological interventions for a range of childhood emotional health and wellbeing issues across the local system.
• To support whole system transformation and lead programmes of change that ensure that the principles of iThrive recommendations are delivered within the locality.
• To ensure the systematic provision of high-quality clinical psychology and psychological interventions in the multidisciplinary team for the child and family population of the locality, across all sectors of care.

Person Specification

Essential
  • Doctorate level training in clinical psychology, including specifically models of clinical, psychometrics, two or more distinct psychological therapies and child developmental psychology as accredited by the BPS or a BPS. Or a post-graduate doctorate in clinical psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) Statement of equivalence.
  • Membership of the HCPC
  • Additional further training in the use of specific psychometric and/or neuro-psychological assessment tools.
  • Training in supervision of qualified and trainee psychologists and other professionals within the MDT
Desirable
  • Additional further training and qualifications in a range of therapeutic models (e.g. CBT, CAT, psycho-analytic therapies)
Experience

Essential
  • Experience of working as a qualified clinical psychologist with demonstrable experience as a highly specialist clinical psychologist with children and young people and/or their families/carers.
  • Experience in undertaking line management of psychological therapies staff.
  • Experience of working with children, young people and their families who may be complex and challenging within the community.
  • Experience of working with a wide variety of children and young people (including those with complex additional needs) and their families in a range of settings including their homes, other community and acute care settings, residential and foster care environments for LAC.
  • Experience of working within multi-disciplinary services across the range of statutory and voluntary children's sector.
  • Experience of exercising full clinical responsibility for psychological care and treatment as an autonomous practitioner with complex and challenging service users within the context of a multidisciplinary care plan.
Desirable
  • Experience of representing psychology within the context of multi-disciplinary care.
  • Experience in developing research and development programmes within psychological therapy service.
  • Experience within 1 or both of the following specialist areas: children in care, children with additional needs.
  • Experience in teaching and training qualified psychological therapists and of non-psychology staff.
  • Experience of the application of psychological therapy in diverse cultural and ethnic contexts.
Knowledge and Skills

Essential
  • Well-developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, highly technical and clinically sensitive information to service users, their families, carers, and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS.
  • Highly developed skills and experience of working with complex, sensitive, or contentious information.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in a highly emotive, antagonistic, or hostile atmosphere and to overcome barriers to acceptance/psychological resistance to potentially threatening information.
  • Highly developed skills in providing consultation to other professionals including medical staff and non-professional groups.
  • Doctoral level knowledge of research design and methodology, including multivariate data analysis.
  • Keyboard skills and skills in using word-processing, email, and internet software.
  • Ability to work independently on a day-to-day basis and use own initiative.
  • Ability to work towards agreed goals, reviewed regularly in management supervision.
  • Evidence of continual professional development as recommended by the appropriate professional body.
