About the Role
We are seeking a highly organized and customer-focused Receptionist to join our team at Lyndhurst Medical Centre. As a key member of our front desk team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and administrative support to our clinical staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Attend to patients at the reception desk, learn, understand, and maintain the computerized appointment system.
- Assist patients with any problems of a general nature, answer the telephone, take messages, and convey their content to the appropriate doctor or nurse.
- Acquire a good knowledge of the practice procedure for registering new patients and the rules regarding the movement of existing patients.
- Ensure that all relevant forms are completed correctly and the relevant proofs of address are provided before submission.
- Handle urgent requests for appointments/visits, screen messaging, or contacting the doctor on call as necessary.
- Make arrangements for hospital transport and interpreters as required.
- Check emails, scan and email documents as needed, and ensure that a sent confirmation is received and the request and confirmation are filed.
- Assist patients with processes and queries relating to the repeat prescription system.
- Operate the practice procedure for providing copies of pathology results to patients and the recording of the same.
- Operate the practice procedure for providing patient information to secondary care providers and the recording of the same.
- Carry out any other reasonable duties requested by the management team or doctors.
Person Specification
- GCSE in Math and English (essential)
- NVQ in customer care or health and social care (desirable)
- At least 5 years of reception or customer care experience (essential)
- Previous GP practice experience or knowledge of the EMIS system (desirable)
