Job SummaryThe Loom Technician will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our textile production lines. This includes diagnosing and resolving issues with cloth and mechanical defects, completing minor repairs on looms, and maintaining the highest quality levels.
Key Responsibilities- Diagnose and resolve issues with cloth and mechanical defects
- Complete minor repairs on looms
- Ensure Standard Operating Procedures are followed for tasks such as style changes
- Perform Preventative Maintenance duties, including checking Rapiers, settings, worn and loose parts, and loom lubrication
- Assist with major overhauling as required
- Work with the production team to minimize downtime
- Control the use of weaving spares
- Maintain the highest possible levels of quality, efficiency, and maintenance
- Ensure all loom settings are to specification
- Comply with Health & Safety practices and Company policies
- Ensure work areas are kept clean, clear, and hazard-free
- Report all accidents as required
- Experience and knowledge of working with Rapier and Waterjet looms
- Excellent health and safety practices and knowledge
- Reliable and enthusiastic
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
- Able to work to given tolerances and measurements
- An organized team player with strong communication skills
- Keen eye for detail and housekeeping
- Ability to work to tight deadlines
- Ability to communicate at all levels
- Understanding of Kanban systems, standard work, and C.S.D. (continuous skills development)
- Experience of following Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) manuals
- Knowledge of weaving processes would be advantageous
- Knowledge of Barco would be advantageous
- Experience of implementing Lean practices would be advantageous
