Oxford Summer Courses invites applications from experienced managers for the role of Deputy Course Director. This challenging and rewarding position involves leading a team of staff and students, ensuring the successful delivery of summer courses and providing a first-class student experience.

About the Opportunity

This fixed-term residential role is perfect for someone with a background in leadership or management, particularly in education. As a member of our senior management team, you will be responsible for managing staff and students, making key decisions, and maintaining high standards of care.

Main Responsibilities
  • Lead Teams: Manage junior management staff, providing guidance and support to maintain positive relationships with their teams.
  • Decisive Action: Act as primary decision-maker on site, deputising for the Course Director in their absence.
  • Culture Builder: Contribute to a positive and supportive work environment, promoting a collaborative culture.
  • Operational Oversight: Oversee staff responsible for planning and execution of excursions, meals, and activities.
  • Financial Management: Support the Course Director in managing delivery costs, maintaining accurate records of spending.
  • Safeguarding: Work closely with the Welfare and Safeguarding Officer to ensure effective safeguarding, behaviour, and discipline.
  • Residential Support: Perform up to 10 hours per week of residential duties, including morning registrations, mealtime supervision, curfew checks, and overnight phone duty.

  • You are a seasoned leader with exceptional management skills, capable of motivating and guiding a team to achieve outstanding results.
  • You're skilled at making informed decisions, prioritising student safety and wellbeing, and remaining composed under pressure.
  • You excel at building and maintaining strong relationships with staff, students, and external stakeholders, fostering a culture of respect and collaboration.

We offer a competitive salary of £25,000 - £30,000 based on experience, along with accommodation and meals during the course period.
