Job Title: Academic Governance Officer

About the Role

The Law Society is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Academic Governance Officer to join our Governance team. As a key member of the team, you will provide exceptional support to our Council, Board, and Committees, ensuring seamless governance operations.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Prepare and distribute meeting materials, including agendas, minutes, and action lists.
  2. Collaborate with the Governance team to ensure efficient appointment and reappointment processes for committee members and chairs.
  3. Provide secretariat services to sub-committees of the Board and/or Council, covering a range of matters critical to the Law Society's work and relationships with the profession and stakeholders.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will have:

  • Proven experience in governance or a related field, with a deep understanding of how a successful governance team operates.
  • Excellent minute-taking skills, coupled with strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to handle demanding individuals and competing priorities.
  • A high level of attention to detail and the ability to work flexibly in response to changing priorities.
