About the Role

We are seeking an Industrial Placement Web Developer to join our Accelerator Controls team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing web user experience solutions for our industrial placement program.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in software development and computing, with experience in programming languages such as JavaScript. You will be working with our team to develop web applications using open-source control systems, such as EPICS, and creating user interfaces using software like Phoebus.

This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in web development and contribute to the development of cutting-edge technology. You will be working in a collaborative environment with a team of experienced developers and will have the opportunity to learn from them.

About the Team

The Accelerator Controls team is responsible for the collection and dissemination of data related to the control and status of the accelerator. We use this data to support the crew in the main control room, who use the software we develop to monitor and control the particle accelerators.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop web user experience solutions for our industrial placement program
  • Work with our team to develop web applications using open-source control systems
  • Create user interfaces using software like Phoebus
  • Contribute to the development of cutting-edge technology
  • Collaborate with a team of experienced developers
Requirements
  • Currently enrolled on an undergraduate degree course and returning to university/studies to complete your undergraduate degree following the placement
  • Required or have requested to take an industrial placement year
  • Have the right to live and work in the UK for the duration of the placement
  • Able to commence employment in summer 2025
  • A software development or computing discipline
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience programming in an object-oriented language such as JavaScript
