Purpose of Role:
You will be accountable for the management of the Weir Advanced Research Centre portfolio of research and development projects across the complete project life cycle: from project initiation, through scope development to execution and finally knowledge transfer. You will be key to ensuring that the evolving project portfolio remains relevant to the Weir internal customer and executed at a pace to match the business demands to exploit the knowledge.

Key Responsibilities:
Focus Area: R&D Portfolio Management: Delivering the current R&D project portfolio to develop new technologies required to make mining more sustainable.
Focus Area: R&D Portfolio: Identifying and evaluating emergent research opportunities to meet the demand of the wider Weir organisation, our customers and the industry as a whole.
Focus Area: Project Management Process: Owning the Research Centre Project Management Process ensuring the R&D portfolio delivers meaningful & impactful knowledge and capability to the relevant are of the organisation.
Focus Area: Project Management Process: Being responsible for the continuous review of the Research Centre Project Management Processes to ensure they are fit for purpose and are kept up to date with current project management methodologies.

Job Knowledge/Education and Qualifications:
Experience in an engineering or research role with demonstrable experience in Project / portfolio Management.
If you have limited Research and Project Management experience, we may consider candidates with a degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
A qualification in Project Management is desirable but not essential. Ideally, you will have the aspiration to work towards this.
Knowledge of Agile, Design Thinking and Lean Toolset are advantageous.
