About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated nurse to join our team as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Paediatric Diabetes. The successful candidate will have good knowledge and understanding of the management of childhood diabetes and be committed to working with and supporting children, young people and their families.

Main Duties

  1. Manage a designated clinical caseload and use clinical judgment and autonomous decision making about the specialist nursing care and management of children and young people with diabetes.
  2. Provide leadership and direct line-management for a small team of staff supporting them to care for a caseload of children and young people.
  3. Facilitate teamwork across the multidisciplinary team to deliver a high standard diabetes service to children, adolescents, families and carers.
  4. Participate in a regular review of the responsibilities of the multidisciplinary team as a service provider, examining the structure and processes against all criteria identified in the Best Practice Tariff, National Paediatric Diabetes Audit and Peer review.
  5. Assist the Lead Nurse and deputise in their absence.
  6. Work cross-site within East Kent and participate pro-rata in the Out of Hours telephone on-call service for children, young people and their families ensuring they have access to specialist diabetes advice.
