Job Title: Insurance Portfolio Manager

We are seeking an experienced Insurance Portfolio Manager to join our dynamic Financial Management and Insurance Team at Coventry City Council. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring that our portfolio of insurances meets the needs of the Council.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Providing insurance advice to colleagues throughout the Council, including to legal and procurement departments.
  • Ensuring that the Council's portfolio of insurances meets its needs.
  • Managing a small team of claims handlers.
  • Working with finance colleagues and external advisors to ensure that the Council holds the correct levels of provisions and reserves for claims.
  • Facilitating regular reviews of the Council's Corporate Risk Register, which includes writing reports for and presenting them to the Council's Leadership Board and the Audit and Procurement Committee.
Requirements:
  • Qualified insurance professional (Chartered Insurance Institute) with experience of working for or with local authorities.
  • Ability to work strategically with various stakeholders, building constructive working relationships both internally and externally.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks.
