Job Title: Insurance Branch Manager

We are seeking an experienced Insurance Branch Manager to join our dynamic Financial Management & Insurance Team at Coventry City Council. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading our Insurance Section and providing strategic guidance on insurance-related matters.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in insurance and risk management, with experience of working in a local authority or similar environment. You will be able to work closely with various stakeholders, including Councillors, Directors, and service managers, to ensure that our insurance portfolio meets the needs of the Council.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring that the Council's insurance portfolio is properly managed and maintained.
  • Providing expert advice on insurance-related matters to colleagues throughout the Council.
  • Leading the Council's response to all types of insurance claims.
  • Managing a small team of claims handlers.
  • Working with finance colleagues and external advisors to ensure that the Council holds the correct levels of provisions and reserves for claims.
  • Facilitating regular reviews of the Council's Corporate Risk Register.
