Job Title: Insurance Branch Manager

We are seeking an experienced Insurance Branch Manager to join our dynamic Financial Management & Insurance Team at Coventry City Council. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading our Insurance Section and providing strategic guidance on insurance-related matters.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in insurance and risk management, with experience of working with local authorities. You will be able to work strategically with various stakeholders, building constructive working relationships both internally and externally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Insurance Section and provide strategic guidance on insurance-related matters.
  • Ensure that the Council's portfolio of insurances meets its needs.
  • Provide insurance advice to colleagues throughout the Council, including to legal and procurement departments.
  • Manage a small team of claims handlers and work with finance colleagues and external advisors to ensure that the Council holds the correct levels of provisions and reserves for claims.
  • Facilitate regular reviews of the Council's Corporate Risk Register and provide operational risk management advice to managers.

Requirements:

  • Chartered Insurance Institute qualification.
  • Experience of working with local authorities.
  • Strong background in insurance and risk management.
  • Ability to work strategically with various stakeholders.
