Job Title: Communications and Marketing Officer

The successful candidate will work closely with a Local Authority in Newry, Mourne and Down to assist with the appointment of a Communications and Marketing Officer, on a 2-month contract, with a high likelihood of extension.

Key Responsibilities:
  • To contribute to the provision of a Communications and Marketing service across the Council, ensuring delivery against agreed corporate and service-specific Communications and Marketing objectives and targets.
  • To support Managers and Officers across the Council in the development and implementation of effective Communications and Marketing strategies.
  • To contribute to the development and implementation of emergency communications plans, providing accurate, timely, and consistent information.
  • To participate in the preparation of financial estimates and business plans for the Communications and Marketing Section, and assist with the management and control of the Communications and Marketing budget, ensuring services are delivered within allocated budgets.
  • To contribute as required to the preparation of business cases, tenders, and quotations in line with financial and procurement regulations, policies, and procedures, and corporate timescales.
Requirements:
  • A degree-level qualification in a relevant discipline, such as Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, Digital or Visual Communications.
  • At least 1 year's proven experience working in a high-volume, corporate communications environment.
