About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Ophthalmic Consultant to join our team at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our Ophthalmology department, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide specialist ophthalmic care to patients, including cataract and oculoplastic surgery
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of ophthalmic services, including the development of new treatments and technologies
  • Work closely with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care and effective communication
  • Participate in teaching and training activities to support the development of junior staff
  • Contribute to the development of policies and procedures to ensure high-quality patient care
Requirements
  • Eligibility for inclusion on the Specialist Register or eligible for inclusion within 6 months of interview date
  • Full registration with the GMC
  • FRCOPHTH or Equivalent CCST in Ophthalmology
  • Minimum 8 years clinical experience
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Oculoplastic Fellowship or equivalent experience in Oculoplastic
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English
  • Effective teaching skills
  • Ability to organise and prioritise workload and to delegate responsibility and supervise staff
Desirable
  • Computer and IT skills
  • Educational qualification or working towards
