About the Role
The Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Allied Health Professional Therapy Assistant to join our award-winning CONNECT eating disorder service.
This is an exciting new role where you will be supporting individuals living with an eating disorder on their journey towards recovery. As a Therapy Assistant, you will work closely with the ward Dietitian and Occupational Therapist to support care plans tailored to individual needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide practical and social support to individuals as part of their recovery
- Co-facilitate groups such as creative, social eating, breakfast, lunch, and caf groups
- Support patients with Dietetic goals, for example, carrying out behavioral experiments with patients
- Support to re-engage patients with meaningful activities
- Meal planning and preparation
- Support with reviewing OT and Dietetic goals
- Mealtime support, planning, and preparation
- Increasing cooking skills
- Supermarket shopping and eating out
- Support implementing coping strategies
- Supporting patients to access volunteer, work, and educational opportunities
Other Duties Include:
- Patient meal support
- Patient psychological support
- Co-facilitation of patient groups
- Liaison with friends & family members
- Daily ward admin
- Patient documentation

Person Specification
Qualifications
- Holds an NVQ2 Qualification or equivalent
Experience
- Has experience of working with ED patients, worked on a CAMHS unit or mental health ward
- Demonstrates a good understanding of the roles and responsibilities of the role
- Occupational therapy or dietetic experience
