Financial Assistant/Management Accountant Opportunity

RM Recruit is seeking a skilled Financial Assistant/Management Accountant to join a dynamic not-for-profit organisation in Newcastle-Under-Lyme. This 6-month full-time contract offers a flexible, hybrid working arrangement with one day in the office and four days working from home.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow forecasts.
  2. Perform month-end duties such as journal entries, accruals, prepayments, and reconciliations.
  3. Support the preparation of budgets and forecasts, providing variance analysis against actuals.
  4. Assist in the preparation of VAT returns, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
  5. Conduct balance sheet reconciliations and resolve any discrepancies in a timely manner.
  6. Prepare financial reports and summaries for internal stakeholders, providing insights and recommendations.
  7. Monitor and manage the fixed asset register, including depreciation calculations.
  8. Assist with the annual audit process, liaising with external auditors as required.
  9. Provide support in the development and implementation of financial controls and procedures.
  10. Collaborate with other departments to gather financial data and ensure accurate reporting.

The ideal candidate will be ACCA/CIMA part-qualified or qualified by experience, with prior exposure in a similar role. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software, along with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, is essential. A strong attention to detail, accuracy, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team are crucial for this role. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines efficiently, are required.
