About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our Special Educational Needs (SEN) Team as a Team Leader. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in supporting children and young people with special educational needs and their families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the Education, Health and Care (EHC) needs assessment process, ensuring that children and young people receive the support they need to achieve their full potential.
  • Manage complex casework, complaints, mediations, and appeals to the First Tier Tribunal (SENDIST), providing expert advice and guidance to stakeholders.
  • Lead a team of SEND Advisers and SEN Caseworkers, providing coaching, mentoring, and professional development opportunities to ensure high-quality service delivery.
  • Collaborate with schools, social care, and other agencies to ensure that vulnerable learners achieve good or better outcomes.
  • Develop and deliver training on SEN-related topics, promoting best practice and improving outcomes for children and young people.
Requirements
  • A level 5 qualification or higher in Education, Social Care, or equivalent, or significant experience working with children, young people, and families in an education, health, or social care environment.
  • Specific knowledge and understanding of the role of the local authority in relation to special educational needs and disability, including current legislation and policies.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, teamworking, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
  • Able to work autonomously and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
