About the Role

This is an exciting chance to join a well-established online gardening business in Spalding, Lincolnshire. As a key member of our growing team, you will support various aspects of horticultural processes and procedures in your designated area.

You will work closely with our Growing Manager to oversee all aspects of plant care, including propagation, fertilization, irrigation, growth regulation, and daily crop needs to ensure optimal plant health and productivity.

Responsibilities
  • To support the Growing Manager in overseeing the growth and production of plants, ensuring they are healthy and productive.
  • Maintain the crops by pinching, pruning, and cutting back.
  • Testing and managing soil health across site (EC/PH testing) daily to ensure all plants receive correct nutrients to promote plant growth and prevent diseases.
  • Continually identifying and managing pests and diseases that can affect plant health.
  • Operating and maintaining equipment such as sprayers, trimmers, and irrigation systems to support crop production, including carrying out minor repairs.
  • Ensuring that the equipment for growing purposes is in proper working conditions.
  • Inform facilities team of any issues or repairs required.
  • Complete relevant growing data, counts, and documentation.
  • Responsible for housekeeping, sanitation, and weed control for specified areas.
  • FOLLOWING HEALTH AND SAFETY POLICIES AND PROCEDURES WHILE ON SITE.
  • Ensuring that all activities are done efficiently, effectively, and according to the schedule.
Key Skills and Qualifications
  • A strong understanding of growing and agriculture production practices.
  • Proven experience in greenhouse and open field work.
  • Skilfully using irrigation, fertilization, and environmental control systems.
  • Work effectively and efficiently to meet specified output targets.
  • A valid driving license.
  • A forklift license would be advantageous.
  • Self-motivated and ability to work independently and take initiative.
  • Excellent time management, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • A quick learner with a positive, can-do attitude and ability to follow instructions effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail in all tasks.
  • Reliable means of transportation.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
Estimated Salary

£30,000 - £40,000 per annum depending on experience.
