Position Overview

The Sales Director will lead the development and execution of customer strategies and sales objectives for finished products and by-products. This role is responsible for ensuring key customer contract compliance, maintaining good customer relationships, and leading the Sales and Customer Service team. The Sales Director will also manage commercial and market risks, and assist senior management in creating and administering policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft, negotiate, and execute customer contracts.
  • Maintain customer relationships by resolving issues and ensuring high customer satisfaction.
  • Develop new customer accounts.
  • Coordinate with Raw Material Purchasing, Market Intelligence, Finance, and Business Partner teams.
  • Coach, train, and develop the Sales and Customer Service team.
  • Support and contribute to an effective SnOP process.
  • Develop and execute detailed objectives, targets, and strategies.
  • Gather and distribute market intelligence.
  • Maintain and manage expense account records.
  • Represent the company at industry association meetings.
  • Participate in budget and business plan preparation.
  • Manage and execute by-product sales strategies and agreements.

Requirements

A. Pre-Hire Requirements

  • English required. German, French, Italian desired.
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • 10+ years sales and management experience, preferably in the metals industry.
  • Aptitude for financial and commercial analysis.
  • Strong Excel and presentation skills.
  • Ability to travel 30% approximately.

B. Post Hire Training Requirements

  • Environmental training applicable to the job.
  • Safety training for applicable equipment.
  • Job instructional training.
  • Quality system familiarization.
  • OHSAS 18001 familiarization, hazards, and risks.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

The employee is frequently required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close vision. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
