About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated Specialist Learning Support Assistant to join our team at our SEN School in Ditton Priors. As a key member of our staff, you will work closely with our class teachers to provide exceptional support to our students, helping them to reach their full potential and develop essential skills for independence.

You will be working with students who have experienced trauma, and may present with challenging behaviours. To succeed in this role, you must be empathetic, solution-focused, and passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of our learners.

Your Responsibilities
  • Support students with varying learning needs, including those with difficulty accessing mainstream education.
  • Familiarize yourself with additional SEND needs, such as communication and interaction, cognition and learning, sensory and physical requirements.
  • Develop strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues, promoting a culture of inclusivity and respect.
  • Collaborate with the teaching team to create personalized learning plans, incorporating trauma-informed practices and positive mental health promotion.
  • Manage behaviour that challenges, using effective strategies to de-escalate situations and promote a safe environment.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

  • Apt knowledge of first aid and child development.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, enabling you to build strong relationships with students, colleagues, and families.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team, understanding classroom roles and responsibilities.
  • Familiarity with National Curriculum requirements and relevant legislation.
  • Basic understanding of ICT and its application in educational settings.
