Radiological Protection Advisor Job Description

Job Type: Contract

Duration: 18-24 months

Salary/ Pay rate/ Benefits: £55-£60/hr Umbrella

Location: Oxfordshire - Hybrid available

Hours of work: 37

This role requires a highly skilled and experienced Radiological Protection Advisor to provide guidance and advice on radiological safety to ensure legislative compliance and adoption of industry best practice.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement improvements to radiation protection systems, processes, and infrastructure
  2. Prepare, review, and approve radiological protection and process documentation
  3. Provide guidance for onsite health physics teams
  4. Provide technical guidance and selection and calibration of radiation monitoring equipment, sources, and monitoring systems
  5. Provide onsite supervision of contractors working in radiological areas
  6. Deliver radiological protection courses to stakeholders
  7. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of radiological best practices and UK legislation
  8. Respond to onsite incidents involving radioactive materials

Requirements:

  1. Able to gain SC clearance
  2. In-date RPA 2000 certificate of competence
  3. Nuclear industry experience
  4. Able to work under pressure
  5. Excellent communication skills
  6. Strong awareness of nuclear, conventional safety, and security requirements
