Clinical Fellow in Paediatric Haematology Specialist

The Clinical Fellow in Paediatric Haematology position is based in the Imperial College Children's Blood and Marrow unit at St Mary's Hospital, a leading centre for blood and marrow transplantation in non-malignant haematological disorders.
Main ResponsibilitiesThe post-holder will be responsible for the day-to-day management of all paediatric haematology patients, including those undergoing a stem cell transplant and their donors, complex haemoglobinopathy patients, patients with bone marrow failure, shared care oncology patients, and patients with immune cytopenias.
The post-holder will share in the day-to-day management of all Paediatric Haematology inpatients, day-care review patients, performing procedures such as bone marrow examination and bone marrow harvests (after training and with supervision).
About the RoleThis post does not offer specific laboratory haematology training, but appointees with an interest in haematology are actively encouraged to attend laboratory meetings, weekly morphology teaching, and courses.
The successful applicant will have the opportunity to gain expertise in paediatric haematology alongside gaining experience in a related aspect such as research, procedures, or management.
Person SpecificationEssential Qualifications
- On GMC register/licensed Medical Practitioner
- MRCPCH or MRCP Part 2 or equivalent
Desirable Qualifications
- Higher degree, ie MD/PhD
Experience
- On training scheme in Paediatrics or Haematology or eligible to apply for one
Clinical Skills
- Experience of working as middle grade in paediatrics or haematology
Audit
- Evidence of involvement in and understanding of principles of clinical governance
- Clinical practice consistent with GMC guidelines on 'Good medical practice'
- Experience of clinical audit, to include more than one completed project
