Acoustical Scientist

We are seeking a highly skilled Acoustical Scientist to join our Ultrasound and Underwater Acoustics Group at the National Physical Laboratory. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for advancing our research in acoustics and developing new techniques for underwater acoustic measurement and calibration.
Your Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement new experimental techniques for acoustic measurement and delivery to customers and collaborators.
- Contribute to the delivery of measurement services and participate in research and development projects.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop and maintain our suite of dedicated facilities, including laboratory tanks and an acoustics pressure vessel.
- Contribute to scientific outputs through journal publications and scientific conferences.
- Share your knowledge and expertise with colleagues to enhance our team's capabilities.
- Develop partnerships to strengthen our research and development capabilities.
- Act as an ambassador for our work externally and promote our research and development activities.
- Provide technical support for bids and proposals.
We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Acoustical Scientist with a strong background in physics, acoustics, or a related discipline. You will have a proven track record of precise experimental work and a strong aptitude for critical thinking and problem-solving.
You will be able to work effectively in a team environment, communicate complex ideas clearly, and interact with colleagues, collaborators, and customers. Experience with data analysis techniques, systems engineering, and software packages such as Matlab and LabView would be an advantage.
