At Wood, we are seeking a highly experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Technology and Products team based in Reading. As a Principal Mechanical Designer - Fired Heaters, you will play a crucial role in shaping the world by delivering complex designs for specialized Fired Heaters across the globe for large-scale projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the mechanical design of fired heaters, supporting in the proposal process for new work, producing and controlling man hour budgets, overseeing the production of all drawings and production materials.
- Work with our highly experienced Fired Heater team within the Reading office as well as with other global teams on international projects.
- Support the delivery manager by leading some of the smaller studies.

Expected Skills and Experience:
- Extensive experience with the Mechanical Design of Fired Heaters.
- An understanding of relevant international specifications in relation to Fired Heaters.
- Experience supporting in the creation of proposals.
- Previous experience overseeing production of all drawings in regards to a Fired Heater.
- Experience in using CAD and 3D modelling software, including Microstation, Tekla, and E3D.
- An understanding of various types of heaters, boilers, WHRU's, HSRG'S, and Reformers.
- An understanding of Instrumentation used with Fired Heaters.
- Experience with ASTM/ASME and Euronorm materials, including high-temperature alloys.
- Demonstration of customer focus and ability to respond to customer needs while achieving project and corporate objectives.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to collaborate at all levels of the business.
