Salary: $65,000 - $85,000 per annum (commensurate with experience)

Job Description:

The New England Fishery Management Council is adopting ecosystem-based fishery management as their framework for managing coastal fisheries. In this role, you will assist stakeholders in understanding the process and provide feedback on their concerns and hopes for a new management system.

We interviewed stakeholders to understand their knowledge of EBFM and identified concerns, which informed the creation of fact sheets, brochures, presentations, and a video. These resources are available on the NEFMC website and provide an essential tool in the engagement process.

Key Elements of EBFM include:
• Holistic approach to managing fisheries and their ecosystems
• Consideration of the impacts of fisheries management on the environment and other marine resources
• Involvement of stakeholders in the decision-making process
• Use of science-based information to inform management decisions

Your Responsibilities:
  • Assist in educating stakeholders about EBFM
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders
  • Contribute to the creation of educational materials

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Biology, or related field
  • 2+ years of experience in environmental consulting or management
  • Excellent communication and project management skills
