Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Energy Policy and Storage Expert to join our team at Lifelancer.

About the Role

This is a broad and varied position with the opportunity to have a significant impact on the energy industry. Key responsibilities include:

  • Driving code changes to better recognize and reward the benefits of energy storage in the electricity system.
  • Delving into the detail of storage business cases to understand their effect on profitability, including network charges, financing costs, and new grid services.
  • Forming alliances with similarly-minded partners and organizations to achieve change through collective lobbying.
  • Communicating energy policy updates and implications of REMA to internal stakeholders and shaping Fields' strategy for developing, constructing, and operating its own storage portfolio.
  • Sharing important policy insights with colleagues in GB, Italy, Germany, and Spain, and feeding back what works in these countries to policy makers in GB.

The Skills You'll Need

To succeed in this role, you will require:

  • Experience proposing and responding to code modifications, being a workgroup participant, and understanding both pitfalls and routes to success in achieving code changes.
  • A deep understanding of at least one of the following codes: CUSC, DCUSA, Grid Code / DCode, or BSC.
  • In-depth knowledge of at least one of the following areas: network charging methodologies (e.g., TNUoS, DUoS), Balancing Mechanism, or Capacity Market rules.
  • Able to communicate complex concepts and present cogent arguments to persuade and influence policy makers.
  • Understanding of the main parts of GB Energy Legislation and licence obligations of generators, network owners, and NGESO.

What We Offer

This role offers a competitive salary of £80,000 - £100,000 per annum, depending on experience, as well as opportunities for professional growth and development in a dynamic and innovative environment.
