The Job
We are seeking a Direct Payment Worker to assist a 9-year-old girl with myoclonic muscular dystrophy and uses a wheelchair. She requires personal care needs.
She enjoys activities such as baking, swimming, crafting and watching television. She also enjoys music and dancing, but can find these activities too noisy and requires ear defenders. She uses sign language and gestures to communicate her needs and is starting to use a talker.
The ideal candidate will be caring and patient with experience of supporting young people with a disability.
Key Responsibilities
Assist the young person with personal care needs, including bathing, dressing and using the toilet.
Support the young person to participate in activities she enjoys, such as baking and swimming.
Use sign language and gestures to communicate with the young person and support her to use her talker.
Work collaboratively with the young person's family and other professionals to ensure her needs are met.
