Electrical Commissioning Expert for Dreadnought Submarines

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Commissioning Expert to join our team responsible for commissioning the electrical power and distribution plant on the first of class, next generation of Dreadnought submarines.

Role Overview

This is a unique opportunity to work on a high-profile project that will deliver four SSBNs to the Royal Navy to maintain Continuous At Sea Deterrence (CASD). As an Electrical Commissioning Expert, you will be part of a collaborative team that values diversity, rewards integrity, and merit.

You will be responsible for deputising for the relevant Commissioning Project Leader as and when required, including supervision of personnel on shift. Your expertise in AC and DC Electrical Generation and Power distribution systems will be essential in ensuring activities are undertaken in a safe and compliant manner.

In addition to your technical skills, you will also be expected to liaise with stakeholders, including Engineering, Royal Navy, MoD, and Build Operations, to ensure seamless coordination and communication.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deputise for the Commissioning Project Leader as and when required
  • Supervise personnel on shift
  • Responsible for researching, authoring, and reviewing design and test documentations
  • Liaise with stakeholders to ensure safe and compliant activities
  • Keep full and accurate records of work activities
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Degree/HNC/HND in an Engineering discipline or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of AC and DC Electrical Generation and Power distribution systems
  • Experience working with Distribution Systems, C&I, and Electrical Testing
  • Knowledge of Instrumentation Systems including Electrostatic Discharge, Low Voltage Control, Data Communications, PLCs & Fibre Optics
  • Detailed knowledge of Safety Control and Procedures in a high-risk environment
