Estimated Salary: £44,110 per annum (dependent on suitability, qualifications, and level of experience)
Working Pattern: A flexible 9-day working fortnight. We consider requests for flexible working arrangements.
About the Role:
We are revolutionizing our way of working within the Environment, Safety, and Health function at AWE Plc. This transformation aligns with business demand and offers opportunities for career growth. As a Senior Nuclear Safety Specialist, you will bring expertise to assess nuclear, explosive, and major hazards associated with facilities, plant, equipment, or products.
Our teams work on various projects that involve innovation and technical challenges across multiple areas, including:
- A multi-billion-pound Capital Programme for new facilities
- Future systems planning to support the UK's long-term strategic deterrent
- Maintaining and extending the life of existing facilities
- Decommissioning redundant facilities
To be successful, you should have demonstrable experience in multi-disciplinary projects and familiarity with one or more of the following areas:
- Producing risk assessments and safety justifications for radioactive, explosives, and chemical plant
- Advising on strategies for developing safety assessments (safety case/safety basis/risk assessments)
- Completing complex safety analyses, assessments, and associated documentation
Requirements include:
- Experience in safety assessment for radiological, chemical, and/or explosive hazards
- The ability to undertake a range of safety assessment techniques
- A Degree in a science or engineering-based subject or vocational qualification (HND or equivalent) and/or extensive practical experience
- Previous experience in a high-hazard and highly regulated industry
