We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant in Palliative Medicine to join our team at St Johns Hospice.\/p>

The successful candidate will have extensive experience in palliative medicine and be able to provide leadership, support, and supervision for the medical team.\/p>

Key responsibilities include\/p>

  • Providing specialist palliative care to patients in the hospice wellbeing centre and outpatients\/li>
  • Ensuring comprehensive plans are made and recorded for each in-patient prior to the weekend\/li>
  • Communicating effectively within the multi-disciplinary care team\/li>
  • Acting as a key member of the Senior Management Team\/li>
  • Contributing to clinical service developments\/li>
  • Participating in teaching programmes for multi-professional teams\/li>
  • Providing clinical and educational supervision for doctors in higher training\/li>
  • Participating in the development of protocols, guidelines, and documentation\/li>

Requirements include\/p>

  • Extensive experience in palliative medicine\/li>
  • Ability to supervise the clinical work of consultants, doctors in training, and other staff\/li>
  • Evidence of under and/or post-graduate teaching\/li>
  • Advanced Communication Skills certificate\/training is desirable\/li>
  • Experience at Consultant in Palliative Medicine level is desirable\/li>
  • Experienced accredited clinical\/educational supervisor and qualified medical appraiser is desirable\/li>
