The Fusion Technology Division at oilandgas is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Graduate Experimental Nuclear Physicist to lead our efforts in advancing fusion technology. As a key member of the Applied Radiation Technology group, you will drive the development of nuclear diagnostics and contribute to the successful delivery of services and R&D provided by the RADLab.

We are offering a competitive salary of £50,000 - £65,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus benefits including a pension scheme, corporate bonus scheme, and flexible working options. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about fusion technology and have a strong background in experimental nuclear physics.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and maintaining nuclear diagnostics for the realisation of fusion power plants;
  • Deploying nuclear diagnostics to gather and analyse data;
  • Collaborating with other teams and groups to ensure effective project delivery;
  • Defining and overseeing Early Career projects;
  • Championing and sharing best practice to promote respect, inclusion, and opportunity across oilandgas.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Demonstrable ability to question existing scientific models and express this clearly through high-quality written reports;
  • IT literacy, including Microsoft Office (e.g. Excel and SharePoint);
  • Good planning, organising and time management skills;
  • A discreet and professional approach to technical or scientific activities;
  • The ability to manage your own development towards building knowledge and skills.
