About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Ground Staff to join our team in Doncaster to Newcastle LNE line. As a Ground Staff, you will be responsible for preparing freight trains for service, facilitating movements to/from the operational railway, and controlling freight train movements in a defined area of responsibility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure freight train and associated wagons are correctly prepared for service.
  • Assist train driver with brake continuity testing.
  • Complete train documentation, including Train Preparation Certificate and Train Certificate of Readiness.
  • Carry out shunting and train preparation duties, including coupling/uncoupling of wagons and locomotives.
  • Operate ground frames and hand points as required to facilitate train movements.
  • Undertake technical examination of rolling stock.
  • Assist maintenance/servicing staff with maintenance/servicing activities, as required.
Requirements
  • Experienced train preparer to meet current industry standards.
  • Personal Track Safety certification.
  • Rules and Regulations competence.
  • Freight Train Operations, Loading, and Rolling Stock Examination knowledge.
