We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our StreetCare Design and Operations team as a Groundworker Apprentice. This exciting opportunity will provide you with the chance to develop your skills and knowledge in highways maintenance, civil engineering, and structural engineering.
Key Responsibilities- Support the delivery of frontline highway maintenance, civil engineering, and structural engineering schemes throughout South Gloucestershire.
- Work closely with experienced staff to prepare sites for construction and civil engineering works.
- Contribute to the physical construction of various features, including site clearance, fencing, drainage, earthworks, traffic signs, road markings, and retaining walls.
- Learn and assist in highways maintenance, civil engineering, and structural engineering works.
- Undertake general manual laboring work, assisting in excavations, reinstatements, and specialist practices such as asphalt mixes, landscaping, structures, and temporary traffic management.
- A 21-month apprenticeship program with Gloucestershire College.
- Block release training at the Cheltenham campus.
- A workplace mentor to provide guidance and support throughout your apprenticeship.
- A College Assessor to support your learning and development.
- A competitive salary, set at the current Age National Minimum Wage.
- A minimum of GCSE Grade 9-4 (or Grade A*-C) or equivalent qualification in English and Maths, or be willing to undertake and gain Level 2 Functional Skills in English and Maths as part of the apprenticeship.
- The ability to work in a team, be self-motivated, and have good attention to detail and organisational skills.
- A good work ethic and commitment to gaining your qualification and learning on the job.
