Highways Maintenance Operative Apprenticeship

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our StreetCare Design and Operations team as a Groundworker Apprentice. This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in highways maintenance, civil engineering, and structural engineering.
Key Responsibilities:- Support the StreetCare Design and Operations team in delivering frontline highway maintenance, civil engineering, and structural engineering schemes.
- Work alongside experienced staff to prepare sites for construction and civil engineering works.
- Learn and assist in highways maintenance, civil engineering, and structural engineering works.
- Undertake general manual labouring work, including excavations, reinstatements, and specialist practices.
- Be responsible for your own safety on site and that of your fellow workers and the general public.
- A 21-month apprenticeship program with Gloucestershire College.
- Block release training at the Cheltenham campus.
- A workplace mentor to guide and support you throughout your apprenticeship.
- A College Assessor to monitor your progress and provide feedback.
- A competitive salary set at the current Age National Minimum Wage.
- A minimum of GCSE Grade 9-4 (or Grade A*-C) or equivalent qualification in English and Maths.
- The ability to work in a team, be self-motivated, and have good attention to detail and organisational skills.
- A good work ethic and commitment to gaining your qualification and learning on the job.
As a Groundworker Apprentice, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in highways maintenance, civil engineering, and structural engineering. You will work alongside experienced staff and learn from them. You will also have the support of a workplace mentor and a College Assessor to guide and monitor your progress.
Throughout your apprenticeship, you will be required to participate in regular progress reviews and complete a portfolio of evidence. You will also be expected to undertake an initial basic skills assessment in Maths and English as part of the College application process.
