Job Title: Personal Tutor

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Personal Tutor to join our team at Heart of Worcestershire College. As a Personal Tutor, you will play a vital role in supporting the academic and personal development of our students, providing guidance and advice to help them achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide pastoral and academic support to students, including setting targets and monitoring progress.
  • Design and deliver curriculum-specific induction and tutorial programmes.
  • Encourage a positive group identity amongst students and a sense of belonging to the College and their course group.
  • Assist students during induction to facilitate a smooth transition.
  • Co-ordinate and deliver group tutorials, providing advice and guidance on strategies, study skills, and career pathways.
  • Provide one-to-one tutorial support, collaborating with CRQ Leaders and curriculum staff to set target grades and monitor progress.
  • Monitor attendance and progress, identifying those at risk and supporting intervention tactics.
  • Provide feedback to students to enable them to improve grades and performance.
  • Use the College ILP systems to monitor and address attendance, track progress, and take appropriate action to maintain students' progress.
  • Liaise with Student Support Services and Personal Learning Coach Services to secure support for students.
  • Act as an advocate for vulnerable student groups.
  • Maintain accurate student records to inform others of potential issues, difficulties, and support requirements.
  • Support the completion of references required for progression into further or higher education and employment.
  • Assist students in meeting the actions from any disciplinary processes and outcomes.

Requirements:

  • Experience of working with students in a pastoral and academic capacity.
  • Ability to design and deliver curriculum-specific induction and tutorial programmes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and external agencies.
  • Knowledge of the College's ILP systems and policies.
