Data Science and Engineering Specialist

We are seeking an exceptional Data Science and Engineering Specialist to help us advance our scientific knowledge and capabilities at the Met Office. As a key member of our team, you will apply your expertise in data science and engineering to develop innovative solutions that drive business outcomes.
The role requires a strong foundation in machine learning, statistics, and data engineering, with experience in designing and implementing scalable data pipelines. You will also collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify business opportunities and develop strategic plans to address them.
About the Role:
- Design and implement scalable data pipelines using Hadoop, Spark, and NoSQL databases.
- Apply machine learning algorithms to extract insights from large datasets.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify business opportunities and develop strategic plans.
- Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies in data science and engineering.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of experience in data science and engineering.
- Strong foundation in machine learning, statistics, and data engineering.
- Experience with Hadoop, Spark, and NoSQL databases.
Salary: £65,000 - £90,000 per annum (dependent on experience).
Location: This is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement and the location advertised will be your contractual place of work. Hybrid working may be available.
