Scientific Computing Professional

We're looking for a skilled Scientific Computing Professional to join our team at the Met Office. The successful candidate will have a strong background in software development and data analysis, with experience in developing and maintaining large-scale scientific applications.
The role involves working on various projects that require the application of advanced computational techniques, algorithms, and software tools to solve complex scientific problems. The ideal candidate will have excellent programming skills, particularly in languages such as Python, C++, and Java, as well as experience with version control systems like Git.
About the Role:
- Develop and maintain large-scale scientific applications using Python, C++, and Java.
- Analyse and visualise complex data sets to inform scientific decision-making.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement new software solutions.
- Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies in scientific computing.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of experience in software development and data analysis.
- Excellent programming skills in languages such as Python, C++, and Java.
- Experience with version control systems like Git.
Salary: £60,000 - £80,000 per annum (dependent on experience).
Location: This is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement and the location advertised will be your contractual place of work. Hybrid working may be available.
