We are seeking a highly experienced Chief Pharmacist and Associate Director to join our Medical Safety Directorate team. This is an exciting opportunity for a senior leader with expertise in pharmacy to play a key role in achieving our strategy to improve patient care delivered across Scotland.

The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership, specialist pharmacy advice, and clinical guidance in shaping our organisation's strategic direction. They will work closely with stakeholders to ensure that Medicines Pharmacy work programmes align with national improvement/assurance programmes and collaborate with external partners to deliver safe, effective, and person-centred healthcare services in Scotland.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive a consistent approach to clinical governance within the organisation, ensuring sound professional advice underpins all programmes of work.
  • Provide leadership across multiple agencies to support improvements in healthcare services in Scotland, representing our organisation at the highest level.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders in Scottish Government, Professional Bodies, and Territorial Health Boards to forge strong strategic relationships.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A Master's degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant field.
  • Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPC).
  • Extensive experience in senior management and clinical leadership roles within the NHS, with expertise in leading cross-organisational initiatives.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven track record of delivering sustainable improvements at system level.
