About the Role

Derbyshire Constabulary is seeking experienced Authorised Firearms Officers to join our Armed Response Unit as Constables.

Key Responsibilities
  • Undertake all duties outlined in the National Authorised Firearms Officer role profile.
  • Produce a training record endorsed by their Chief Firearms Instructor.
Requirements
  • Substantive in the rank of Constable within a Home Office force.
  • Occupationally and operationally competent Authorised Firearms Officer trained to a minimum AFO role profile as detailed in the NPFTC.
  • Pass the JRFT to level 9-4 on application.
  • Current police advanced driver or willing to take an advanced driving course.
  • Evidence occupational and operational competence at interview.
  • No outstanding discipline or integrity issues with current force.
Recruitment Process

The recruitment process consists of five stages:

  1. Application: Provide evidence of competency as an Authorised Firearms Officer.
  2. Interview: Assess personal qualities and commitment to Derbyshire Constabulary.
  3. Firearms Assessment.
  4. Pre-employment checks: Medical, fitness test, vetting checks, and employment references.
  5. Final Offer: If all checks are met satisfactorily, a position with Derbyshire Constabulary will be offered.
