About the Role:

Derbyshire Constabulary is seeking experienced Authorised Firearms Officers to transfer to our team. As a member of our Armed Response Unit, you will be part of a highly trained and motivated group of officers who provide central armed response for the county.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake all duties outlined in the National Authorised Firearms Officer role profile.
  • Produce a training record endorsed by your Chief Firearms Instructor.
  • Be substantively in the rank of Constable within a Home Office force.
  • Be an occupationally and operationally competent Authorised Firearms Officer trained to a minimum AFO role profile as detailed in the NPFTC.
  • Pass the JRFT to level 9-4 on application.
  • Be a current police advanced driver or willing to take an advanced driving course.
  • Evidence occupational and operational competence at interview.
  • Have no outstanding discipline or integrity issues with your current force.

The Recruitment Process:

Our recruitment process consists of five stages:

Stage 1: Application – provide evidence of your competency to be an Authorised Firearms Officer.

Stage 2: Interview – assess your personal qualities and commitment to Derbyshire Constabulary.

Stage 3: Firearms Assessment.

Stage 4: Pre-employment checks – medical and fitness test, vetting checks, and employment references.

Stage 5: Final Offer – if all checks are met satisfactorily, we will offer you a position with Derbyshire Constabulary.
