Highly Trained Firearms Officer

About the Role:
Derbyshire Constabulary is seeking highly skilled and experienced constables to join its Armed Response Unit as Authorised Firearms Officers. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for providing a central armed response for the county and delivering specialist capabilities, including tactical rifle, close protection, and mobile armed support to surveillance.
About the Unit:
The Armed Response Unit is a highly trained and motivated team that provides the central armed response for the county. The unit is equipped with the most up-to-date equipment and training, ensuring that officers can carry out their role effectively and receive support and development within the unit.
Key Responsibilities:
- Undertake all duties outlined in the National Authorised Firearms Officer role profile.
- Produce a training record endorsed by their Chief Firearms Instructor.
- Be substantively in the rank of Constable within a Home Office force.
- Be an occupationally and operationally competent Authorised Firearms Officer trained to a minimum AFO role profile as detailed in the NPFTC.
- Pass the JRFT to level 9-4 on application.
- Be a current police advanced driver or willing to take an advanced driving course.
- Evidence occupational and operational competence at interview.
- Have no outstanding discipline or integrity issues with current force.
The Recruitment Process:
The recruitment process consists of five stages: application, interview, firearms assessment, pre-employment checks, and final offer. Each stage assesses the candidate's suitability for the role and their commitment to Derbyshire Constabulary.
