About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Technical Support Engineer with expertise in Linux systems administration to join our Support Organisation at Squiz.

Key Responsibilities

This role involves resolving complex technical issues while maintaining excellent customer focus. The successful candidate will have strong troubleshooting skills on Linux-based systems, autonomy in fault finding, client-facing communication skills, and experience working in major or critical incidents.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • 3-5 years of experience in Linux system administration and support
  • Strong understanding of Linux (preferably Fedora/EL flavours) and web stack technologies (NGINX, PHP, Redis, Postgresql)
  • Experience with revision/control tools (SVN, Puppet4, Git/Gitlab), server monitoring tools (Nagios, Grafana, Thousand Eyes), and networking fundamentals (DNS, Firewalls, Routing)
  • Cloud-based deployments experience (AWS, Docker, Terraform) and knowledge of Cloudflare
What You Would Do
  • Solve technical problems for our customers related to their existing systems
  • Design, implement, and maintain new infrastructure, servers, and machines, as well as perform maintenance tasks on current infrastructure
  • Troubleshoot and conduct root cause analysis of key projects
  • Collaborate with the product team to migrate systems to SaaS
  • Maintain servers in AWS
  • Contribute to improving our support environment through suggestion and implementation of process improvements
Location and Salary

Edinburgh office location with a requirement to access the office 1-2 times per week. Estimated salary: £50,000 - £65,000 per annum, depending on experience.

Note

A Police check and/or security clearance may be required for this position. We also expect the successful candidate to participate in an on-call rota.
