About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled GIS Data Analyst to join our team at Great Places Housing Association. As a GIS Data Analyst, you will play a key role in supporting the delivery and use of geospatial data across the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, specify, and implement GIS systems, spatial databases, and maximize the use of GIS by delivering easy-to-use, accessible systems.
  • Maintain and manage webmap services, ensuring regular updates and setting up user permissions for 'end-users' to self-serve.
  • Provide complex GIS data analysis, visualizations, and insights for internal and external clients.
  • Lead in the coordination and prioritization of GIS requests for key projects across the business.
  • Work with the BI Projects Team Leader to raise staff awareness of GIS usage, explaining the benefits in non-technical terms.
  • Help design and run training sessions on using GIS across the group to aid in raising awareness and building skillsets.
  • Assist in keeping Great Places' own data up to date and maximizing the use of external datasets.
  • Advocate for a data culture across the business, ensuring data is complete and accurate.
  • Support corporate projects, collaborating with data owners and subject matter experts.
  • Provide bespoke analysis and technical expertise to support colleagues with scrutinizing data.
  • Escalate issues with data accuracy or system usage to ensure prompt resolution.
  • Interpret operational and strategic BI requirements to identify and mine relevant data sources.
  • Assist with testing and development of data management and visualization systems.
  • Act on your own initiative to solve complex database and mapping processes.
  • Ensure robust and reliable management of spatial and other data in line with Great Places' Information Management Policy.

Requirements

  • Relevant degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Previous experience in a GIS-related role.
  • Proficiency in GIS desktop software and data management.
  • Numerical skills with the ability to analyze data and statistics.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and use your own initiative to deliver tasks on time.
  • Keen eye for detail, inquisitive mind, and good organizational skills.
  • Excellent level of ICT skills, including Microsoft applications and technology.
  • Proficiency in PowerBI and understanding of SQL are desirable.
  • A clean UK driving license and access to a car are desirable.
