The estimated salary for this permanent position is £52,000 - £57,500 per annum.

Main Responsibilities:
- Effectively oversee ward operations and resource allocation, ensuring optimal staffing levels and a balanced mix of nursing skills and experience. This includes managing rotas, coordinating annual leave, and arranging necessary training.
- Maintain full oversight of nursing staff scheduling as the primary authority for rota management, ensuring that rostering standards are upheld and effective.
- Ensure clinical supervision, appraisals, and CPD requirements are met for all nursing staff, including the completion of mandatory training.
- Identify and address gaps in development, ensuring that any training or performance issues are promptly resolved.
- Recognise and reward nursing staff for positive performance, aligning recognition with their roles and responsibilities.
- Act as a visible role model, mentor, and leader, fostering a culture of learning, development, inquiry, and professionalism. Promote the sharing of achievements and lessons learned to benefit the ward, hospital, and broader division.
- Implement and monitor compliance with relevant policies and statutory requirements at the hospital, division, and group levels.
- Ensure the highest standard of patient care, taking appropriate action to maintain quality care at all times.
- Guarantee that all patients have clear, current, and evidence-based care plans that reflect their personalised needs, with appropriate engagement of family members and carers.
- Establish clear procedures and processes to ensure the safe and effective operation of the ward, including patient nutrition, environmental cleanliness, and the use of quality assessment tools.
- Participate actively in the recruitment and retention of staff for the ward and hospital.
- Ensure accurate and prompt communication of patient-related information, including clinical communication, records, handovers, and reports.
- Manage comprehensive patient care, addressing both physical healthcare needs and mental health and psychological care.
- Uphold diversity and equality requirements within the ward.
- Conduct thorough and timely clinical and HR investigations, including handling complaints, ensuring high standards are maintained.
- Ensure compliance with legislative frameworks, such as the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, and Deprivation of Liberty, in line with company policy and national standards.
- Manage Medicines Management within the clinical area/ward, ensuring competency-based assessments during induction and promoting transparent approaches to medication errors.
- Assume leadership responsibilities as needed, deputising for the Director of Clinical Services when required.
