Job Description

Supplier Quality Engineer - Defence

Based in Coventry

£25-30 per hour (Outside IR35)

08:00-16:35 (Mon – Thu) 08:00-15:10 (Fri) - Onsite Initial 6 Months with possible extensions

About the Role

The Quality Engineer will be responsible for:

  • Understanding and interpretation of Mechanical and Electrical engineering drawings.
  • Lead and undertake supplier audits and report on Key Performance Indicators through objective assessments of supply chain performance and product quality.
  • Assist in the supplier approval process by assessing manufacturing/technology capabilities and Health, Safety and Environmental risks.
  • Carry out and coach the supplier base in Material Review Boards, Root Cause Corrective Action, Non-Conformance Management, design, and development phases of programmes and support the link between Goods-In and the relevant manufacturing facility.
  • Work with inhouse Engineering, Design and Manufacturing departments to define process parameters ensuring that supplier process capability is effective to meet design intent.
  • Knowledge and experience of coaching and developing internal and external stakeholders in Quality Assurance Tools such as PFMEA, DFMEA, Control Plans, First Article Inspection Reports and Part Submission Warrants.
  • Knowledge of measurement techniques including Metrology, Inspection Methods, and Equipment.

    About You

    To succeed in this role, you will need:

    • A proven history within Defence or Automotive of supply chain management is essential.
    • HND/HNC in manufacturing/engineering or relevant experience is desirable.
