Environmental Officer Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Environmental Officer to join our team at The Skills Coalition. As an Environmental Officer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the company's environmental activities are managed and coordinated effectively.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement environmental plans to ensure compliance with contracts and regulations.
  • Manage and maintain the company's environmental management systems, including ISO 14001.
  • Conduct audits and assessments to identify areas for improvement and ensure statutory compliance.
  • Provide training and support to staff on environmental systems and procedures.
  • Liaise with clients, stakeholders, and external agencies to facilitate site improvements and ensure environmental best practices.
  • Work closely with the management team to foster a positive environmental culture within the company.
  • Lead in the verification of legal compliance and ensure all environmental targets are achieved.
  • Produce and deliver environmental calendar events and reports to inform management about shaping environmental strategy and policy.
Requirements:
  • IEMA Foundation Certificate in Environmental Management.
  • 3-10 years of experience in the environmental field, preferably in a complex commercial organization.
  • Excellent understanding of environmental principles and legislation, including CDM 2015 Regulations.
  • Experience with ISO 14001 audits and statutory compliance.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to measure performance against internal and external benchmarks.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and ability to deal with people at all levels.
  • Strong IT skills and research and auditing knowledge.
  • Passion for the environment and sustainability.
