Teaching Assistant for Autism Support in Mainstream Schools

Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to support primary students with autism in mainstream schools. This role offers a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about inclusive education and making a meaningful difference in the lives of young learners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and group support to students with autism, helping them access the curriculum and participate fully in school life.
  • Work closely with class teachers to implement tailored support plans, ensuring individual needs are met.
  • Assist in the development of social, emotional, and communication skills.
  • Help create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Support the use of visual aids, sensory strategies, and structured routines to enhance learning.
  • Monitor progress and provide feedback to staff and parents as needed.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children, preferably those with autism or additional needs, in an educational setting.
  • A patient, empathetic, and nurturing approach.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Knowledge of strategies to support students with autism is desirable.
  • Relevant qualifications in education, childcare, or special needs are advantageous but not essential. Training will be provided.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
