As a seasoned metadata professional, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of academic publishing. The successful candidate will have extensive experience in bibliographic databases and a deep understanding of how data is used by key stakeholders throughout the supply chain. They will also possess a commercially focused mindset, with a proven track record of seeking out automated solutions and leveraging technology to simplify processes and improve efficiency.
This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and critically thinking individual who thrives in a collaborative environment. As a metadata strategist, you will work closely with cross-functional teams, including operations, editorial, marketing, and sales, to drive the migration of data from legacy systems into Biblio, Bloomsbury's title management system.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and implementing a global backlist metadata enhancement project, focusing on case studies to develop a scalable methodology
- Migrating company acquisitions data from legacy systems into Biblio, working closely with operations, marketing, and editorial teams
- Researching, developing, testing, and introducing key metadata initiatives, including the use of new technologies in assisting editorial and marketing data processes
- Line managing one Metadata Manager responsible for monthly quality control checks, metadata training, and style guides
- Collaborating with metadata colleagues in the US office and Consumer and Special Interest divisions to identify best practices and inform the company-wide metadata strategy
