Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Metadata Specialist to join our team at the Bodleian Libraries. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting metadata creation and management activities associated with cataloguing and digitisation of archives and manuscripts.

The role requires transforming metadata from unstructured forms into approved formats, ensuring compliance with the Bodleian Libraries' metadata guidelines. This involves working closely with colleagues on cataloguing collection materials, conducting quality assurance checks, and publishing metadata in internal systems and the public-facing catalogue, Bodleian Archives & Manuscripts.

A competitive salary is offered for this exciting opportunity. Estimated annual salary: £30,000 - £40,000.

About the Role
  • Support metadata creation and management activities associated with cataloguing and digitisation of archives and manuscripts.
  • Transform metadata from unstructured forms into approved formats.
  • Conduct quality assurance checks on relevant metadata.
  • Publish metadata in internal systems and the public-facing catalogue, Bodleian Archives & Manuscripts.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Library Science, Information Studies, or related field.
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Familiarity with metadata standards and best practices.
