Role Overview

In this critical position at Cambridge Water, you will play a key role in protecting the quality of our drinking water by identifying and mitigating risks from catchment to consumer. With a strong focus on collaboration and data analysis, you will work closely with operational teams to ensure effective reviews, audits, and updates of Drinking Water Safety Plans.

About the Role

This varied role combines field-based and desk-based activities to capture, analyse, and interpret data. You will apply source pathway receptor principles to produce risk assessments for land use activities in our catchments and identify key sources of risk to our drinking water quality.

You will have a close working relationship with catchment advisors and engagement with landowners and other stakeholders in the catchment to develop schemes to protect water quality. Additionally, you will raise awareness with internal stakeholders, carry out audit programmes, and improve systems for risk capture and verification.

Key Responsibilities
  • Apply source pathway receptor principles to produce risk assessments for land use activities in our catchments
  • Identify key sources of risk to our drinking water quality and work with the wider business to identify mitigation actions required and develop an associated plan
  • Help produce reports on our catchment management activities, including input into drinking water safety plans (DWSPs)
  • Collect in-catchment water quality samples and manage hydrometric data
  • Collate, analyse, and interpret monitoring data to accurately determine sources of pollution
  • Raise awareness with internal stakeholders, carry out audit programmes, improving the systems for risk capture and verification and utilising system outputs to support planned investment
What We Offer

We are offering a competitive salary of up to £32,000 per annum, depending on experience, as well as 25 days holiday (plus 8 bank holidays) and a range of employee benefits including free access to a 24/7 GP service and discounts at select stores for personal shopping needs.
